Sisyrinchium Species, Stout Blue-Eyed Grass (Sisyrinchium angustifolium)

This is a japanese-bred S. bermudianum cultivar called "Blue". May sound ridiculously simple to English-speaking gardeners, but here in Tokyo it seems to work - my local florist sold all ten of his pots in two days - two to me... ;)

Blue-eyed Grass

Blooming great this year. Lots of flowers all over the grass!

A shot of the root system of Blue Eyed Grass, mistaken for baby daylilies.

A newly discovered patch of Blue Eyed Grass. A bit fuzzy on the photo, my apologies.

We have thousands that are bright blue, but this one stood out by being different. A pretty purple.

Smaller flower is Sisyrinchium angustifolium. Larger flower is Sisyrinchium Bermudianum.

They grow in the cracks between paving stones with a substantial root system.
