Thryallis glauca blooms all summer long and is still blooming in late September. The bright yellow blooms contrast sharply against the green foliage.

Bought as a small 1 gallon plant this spring, Thryallis glauca has grown into a nice size shrub by the end of September. This photo does not do it justice. The blooms are much more yellow than they appear here.

Bloom almost year round in zone 10b. Height to 8 feet. Wood is brittle, plant away from traffic.

As a hedge against a house.

A young Golden Thryallis, Gold Shower, Shower of Gold, Rain of Gold (Galphimia glauca) plant that came up from seed last year. It survived 26 degree (F) temperatures with no protection.

This plant has moved to the top of my "favorites" along with my Lion's Tail. Both are new to my garden.

Several large Golden Thryallis, Gold Shower, Shower of Gold, Rain of Gold (Galphimia glauca) trunks and branches have broken and have to be removed after being covered with sleet and freezing rain. The smaller branches and twigs are very fragile and easily broken even under normal conditions.
