Canavalia Species, Sword Bean, Swordbean (Canavalia gladiata)

The pods can easily get to be a foot long and are very heavy.

Seeds average about 1 in. in length and are pink.

The buds are a bright pink to lavender-violet. The pod forms from the center part.

Grown in Milton, Florida from an "Easter Egg" gift

Wow...this seedling was 8" tall, and the cotyledons were the size of half-dollars...what a crazy bean!

This plant was grown completely on a windowsill that received lots of sunlight. It produced one bean pod with seven seeds that have each successfully sprouted.
