The rhizomes are used in southeast Asian food flavoring and also as a medicinal herb.
This plants leaves are plain and lay flat on the ground and they have a wonderful aroma. The rhizomes are grown for Asian spices. Watering should be held off when plant goes dormant, rhizomes could rot with too much water during dormant conditions.
Flowers last only a day.
