Lantana 'Mixed Hybrids, Noids' (Lantana camara)

Lantana Camara in red, yellow and orange

This is picture of our lantana in our front yard. We have had it for aproximately 5 years and it comes back after mulching for the winter.

Growing wildly in the deep woods in Rockledge, Florida (32955). No human could have possibly planted them. I'm sure the cold kills them and they come back in spring. I found them in many colors and color combinations.

Swallowtail and Lantana

This is the variety "Radiation".

Lovely multicolored and fragrant flowers. Traded this plant looking like a dead wood, with lots of TLC and patience, it bloomed for the 1st time Aug.1, 2002.

They are on the ground around the trunk of a tree in the shape of a beautiful 3 ft high mound in my front lawn in Rockledge, Florida (32955). They are perennial, almost like a weed and very invasive, at least in this part of Florida. Grows very rapidly and blooms profusely with hardly any care. Great for ground cover with flowers.
This Pink one is one of only two colors I have.

Orange and red colored lantana growing in my southeast Georgia garden...
Hummingbirds and butterflies love it...

The green balls on the left are the seed pods/fruit ~ when fuly ripe, they will turn black.

In one remote section of this woods in Rockledge, Florida(32955), wild Maypop (Passiflora incarnata) has covered almost everything. This photo shows a Maypop flower and a wild Lantana as the Maypop vine is almost ready to strangle the wild Lantana bush.

Plant blooming in mid winter. Guaratinguetá, midway between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

Fullerton arboretum, California

Heres a picture of my yellow lantana. I guess they attrack spiders as well as hummingbirds and butterflies.

This one is purple. I found this one earlier this year.

As I was going to take a closeup of the bloom, a new friend greeted me and posed handsomely. The praying (preying) mantis (mantid), "dragon of the garden", is a valuable insect destroyer. Clutched between its front legs that have claw-like structures, the insect cannot escape. Note the 2 wings.

This is Lantana Desert Sunset. I found that it is better to plant this plant in a large, stand alone pot than place it in my garden. They grow to be huge and will cover over many of the nearby plants. But, if you plant them in a giant container and keep them watered they will bloom profusely all summer from June-early Sept. in St. Louis

This one is a volunteer. Another shot, but the more the better. Rio de Janeiro, late autumn.

After Hurricane Ivan, Lantana has been popping out everywhere around the island. This patch is growing right next to the Lemon Grass and Papayas.

This is a yellow lantana grown in the spring of 2007 in Huntsville, AL 35810 by Taraloves.

A Lantana (Lantana camara) as observed growing in a coastal region of Maui. In Hawai`i, it has become an agricultural pest after escaping from cultivation.

Lantana (Lantana camara) has become such a pest in Hawai`i that numerous insect parasites have been introduced to control it. Shown here in coastal Maui.

Much better bahaved here in AZ. Butterflies and hummingbirds love it.

A true Butterfly Magnet

I LOVE Lantanas, and this is my favorite photo of one that has yet to bloom.

I love the color of the berries that form the end of summer on my lantana. Not all varieties have these.

Pretty flowers yes, but extremely invasive here in Florida! My neighbors love it and this is growing in their yard.

So pretty but so invasive here in Florida.

This bright yellow lantana was purchased in a container with petunias and verbena...didn't realize it was there until it bloomed like bright sunshine!
