Also called gophers and prairie dogs, ground squirrels are underground-dwelling mammals that feed on plant roots and bulbs. Common control measures include traps, bait and barriers. If they are a problem in your garden, consider using a bulb planting tray to keep them out of your prized bulbs and other plants.
