Definition of florastar award

Categorized under "General"

Definition as written by talinum:

Outstanding new potted plants are awarded the FloraStar Award. There are trial locations in the United States covering a variety of geographic and climatic areas.

The FloraStar award is different from the All-America Selections and Fleuroselect because it includes cultivars propagated from vegetative cuttings, bulbs, corms, and tubers, as well as seed.

The winners must be superior to older varieties. It includes both domestic and international breeders. The container plants are judged on plant habit, form, color, ease of growing, uniformity, and overall appearance.
