Definition of cull

Categorized under "General"

Definition as written by Terry:

As a verb, to cull is the removal of offshoots or undesirable young plants from among an established clump

Culling out the undesirable plants gives more room for the remaining plants.

As a noun, a cull refers to the plant that has been removed. Typically nurseries will not offer culled plants for sale, although if they are merely smaller (and not defective) they may be transplanted to a nursery bed or pots and grown for later sale.
