Definition of cracking

Categorized under "General"

Definition as written by Terry:

A problem with tomatoes when too little moisture is followed by too much, prompting quick growth. The outer cells crack and split. It is not only unsightly, but can allow bacteria to enter the fruit. Gardeners have found that providing mulch and watering when summer rains become infrequent can reduce the incidence of cracking.
