Definition of ethnobotany

Categorized under "General"

Definition as written by GrannyLois:

The plant lore of a race or people; also the systematic study of such lore

Definition as written by Monocromatico:

The part of the botanical sciences dedicated to the study of the plants used by a certain community, race, nation, tribe, or any kind of determined social group.

As plants are used for nearly everything, other sciences are needed to get involved in ethnobotanic studies, such as chemistry, engeneering, pharmacology, medicine, antropology, etc., so a complete study about the usage and the actual properties of each species can be made.
