The CITES list is an agreement between governments that makes sure that endangered plants and animals are protected. This is done by limiting the commerce and harvesting of threatened species.

CITES stands for: Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species

They oversee the products derived from these sources as well as the actual plants and animals.
