Definition of tristichous

Categorized under "General"

Definition as written by palmbob:

having leaves growing in three ranks only, all approximately equidistant from each other. For example, many palms grow tristichously, with all their leaves in 3 ranks, which would be best appreciated from above, though that is rarely possible. Here is an example of a tristichous palm, Dypsis decaryi, or the Triangle Palm (named appropriately).
