The Garden Watchdog:

  LouisianaSweetPea wants you to know:

  A note from LouisianaSweetPea:
"I am a Louisiana (Zone 8) "gardener" and/or "KILLER OF PLANTS" :) I started my garden pages because there seemed to be so little information concerning gardening in Louisiana (and playing with Web pages is fun!)

We used to live in Chalmette, Louisiana, in St. Bernard Parish (which is a suburb of New Orleans). My house, garden, entire community, and way of life was destroyed on August 29, 2005, by Hurricane Katrina. We still cannot go home.

We have resettled in another area of Louisiana, much further inland and on much higher ground. Here, i will establish new roots and plant a new garden.

I want to start a "tropical" section of the garden. I love palm trees and banana trees and tropical-looking foliage.

And, recently, I have fallen in love with roses and hibiscus. I've become an absolute addict! They are SO pretty."
