An excellent resource for roses. Divided into several sections: Species roses, old garden roses, modern roses, climbing roses, ramblers, and procumbent (ground cover) roses. Within each section the author lists his favorite roses within each group, and discusses some ideas for how to integrate them into the garden. The section on old garden roses is particularly attentive. There is a short directory of roses in the back as well, with essential reference information. The book is filled with large, beautiful photos of all sorts of roses in gardens across the world. The text is informal and witty, filled with the author's personal experiences with these roses.

This book has so much to say. The author is very passionate about roses, and the language he uses is understandable.

This book is for new roses gardeners and experienced ones.
It talks about the different kind of roses, and it has beautiful pictures!

I read it over and over again, picking around what I want to read next.

Highly recommended!
