Love this book! My neighbour was borrowing it so much - I bought them a copy. Excellent information and pictures of natives - you'll see them in a hole new light.

The author was my baby-sitter eons ago. She's a smart, adaptable woman with fabulous taste and a friendly writing style. I recommend anything she's written.

This is an updated edition of a book that was first published in 1999. An excellent book by a well-regarded author, and with very nice colour photos. Each plant entry has cultivation and propagation info, recommended companion plantings and related species, all written in a style both factual and entertaining. Chapter titles include:

-100 Easy-to-Grow Native Plants
-Ethical Gardener's Guidelines
-Plants for Specific Conditions: Quick-Reference Charts [incl. thumbnail colour photos of each plant]
-Native Plant Nurseries
-Index of Plants by Botanical Name

This book is an enjoyable read and valuable reference work. Highly recommended for Canadian and northern U.S. gardeners.
