A truly inspirational book. I have read it cover to cover many times. I particularly liked his chapter on clematis and roses, although I have yet to get any of my vines to look like his. The most amazing thing is that he started it all from scratch in a very cold climate!

Anything by Patrick Lima is great, especially for cooler climate gardeners. Lima's garden is in Ontario, Canada.

Inspiring photos; very readable text.

I can highly recommend this one.

An excellent introduction to cold-climate gardening, with tips on design and management of perennials. The author's garden, Larkwhistle, was created from scratch over the years, and the book is full of good tips on plant combinations, some surprising information about plant hardiness, and ideas about creating different kinds of spaces in the garden. Beautifully photographed and written.

I return to this book repeatedly and it always tells me something new.
