This is an extremely well written and thorough treatise on growing from which I learned as much, if not more about plant growth than from anything else I have ever read.

The author deals with most specific fruits and vegetables (from Artichokes through Winter Squash), herbs (from Basil through Thyme) plus several edible flowers (from Bachelor's Button through Violas).

Having tried self-watering containers for the first time this year, I have been simply amazed at how much more productive and trouble free my gardening is using this method.

He also includes much useful information and methods regarding composting, what gardeners consider pests, how to increase a garden's beauty and methods to build one's own self-watering containers.

If you plan on vegetable gardening, this book will be very useful.
