Positive | Joan | On Feb 20, 2007, Joan wrote: This is a great book for any gardener. It's filled with lots of helpful information, and illustrated photographs. All that I've looked up have been accurate in all aspects.
As a backyard gardener, if I could only have two books, I'd pair this one with The American Horticultural Societies A-Z encyclopedia of Garden Plants and I could garden happily and well informed for a long time. |
Negative | petit_potager | On May 24, 2006, petit_potager wrote: A ponderous tome that looks dignified on the shelf, yet has not demonstrated its pertinence. I have owned this publication for a number of years and not found it to be relevant. The insufficiency of information, the indecipherable photographs, the miniscule graphs, and the omission of specific cultivars frustrate me in my searches. Additionally, I dislike its organization by color and size. This internet purchase does not correspond with my needs. |
Positive | ladyannne | On Nov 10, 2004, ladyannne wrote: Between this book, the AHS A-Z and AHS Herbs and Sunset, I have information on almost all plants, maybe. This presents plants in an excellent fashion for indentificaton of an unknown. |
Neutral | mystic | On Feb 13, 2004, mystic wrote: A nice book good information and photos. I don't like how its categorized. I much prefer it being alphabetical so you can just look up the name of what you want instead of having to go to a certain category to look it up. It does have a great plant dictionary. I sill prefer the AHS A-Z edition. |
Positive | Happenstance | On Feb 9, 2004, Happenstance wrote: A good companion volume to AHS A-Z, much of the same material is covered, but expanded images and cultivation info. |
