Ordered small packets over the phone. All seeds packets arrived in good time except 1 melon on back order. It was sent a couple weeks after order. Very satisfied with ordering from Twilley. Just would have been easier to do it over the internet. Really like the small packets at good prices. Would rather order every year than have left over seeds.

Update.....received the 1 packet that was on back order.

This company has stopped answering their phone. There voicemail is full, so you can not leave a message, and their email address bounces back as undeliverable. Be warned..

On January 6, 2021, I telephoned in and placed a seed order with Twilley Seed company. I chose to call, because I needed to make sure all the variety of seeds I was going to order where in stock at that time. I was confirmed yes, as I read my seed order, the varieties where indeed in stock. I placed my order that day, and my Twilley seed order, and paid by credit card for the entire order. My Twilley seed order arrived, missing part of the order.
I was assured when I ordered them the day before, everything I was ordering was in stock, by Twilley checking their inventory.
I called Twilley on January 15th, spoke with a woman, and she confirmed yes, that product is indeed in stock. I replied to her, since I ordered it on Jan 6th, and have already paid for it, could you please mail it right out to me, as I am beginning to prepare to start my seeds. She said the remaining order would ship right out.
On February 1st, I called Twilley again. I spoke with a woman again, she said she would transfer me to a rep to talk to...the transfer call went to a voicemail stating the mailbox is "full" and I could not leave a message. I tried calling Twilley right back...Twilley did not answer the phone.
On Feb 2nd, I have tried calling Twilley multiple times. Either the phone rings, and is never answered, or it goes to voicemail and says the mailbox is full....
On Feb 2nd, I sent an email to Twilley Seed, using the email on my invoice from 4 weeks ago...the email to Twilley bounced right back to me, saying it was undeliverable.....

On February 16th, 2021, MVIsland added the following:

Contacted Twilley by telephone again on Feb 4th, spoke with a woman named "Denna", asked her about the status of the rest of my order that I paid in full for and was never shipped. She said more seeds will be coming in soon, I told her I ordered on Jan 6th via the phone to make certain the seeds were in stock...I told her I need them now to start or I will miss my window of opportunity to start them, her reply was the seeds may not even be available, but they took my money for them on Jan 6th...I asked to to just please credit back my credit card (they have all that info) she said she would, and the credit would show in about 3 days... It has been 2 weeks since that phone call. My credit card was never credited back my money.....SHAME on TWILLEY...

Twilley has become one of my favorite seed suppliers. They have a great selection of varieties, from heirloom to modern hybrids (no GMO varieties).
They price their seed fairly, and shipping is free (there is a small handling fee for smaller orders, which is reduced or eliminated the more you order) and they are very quick to ship. Even though they don't do web orders, they are consistently one of the first to deliver my seeds. This year, I downloaded the pdf order form, filled it out and emailed it to them, and I had my seeds in hand in a week.

I've never had a problem with germination on any of the seed I've ordered from them. Even seeds that are notoriously difficult to germinate have done very weel.

Their customer service is also great. The first time I ordered from them, I goofed up on a couple of items when filling out my order form. They actually took the time to call me to make sure I got the seed I wanted, and not something else.

This is a horrible company. Tried to order some seeds from them. Sent them an email and never got any response. When called the customer service within their business hours and nobody answered the phone.

I think it’s probably just human nature that we tend to post comments about vendors when we have a problem with them. I certainly have done so here in the past. But when I put together my list of recommended seed suppliers for a Senior Gardening posting this year, I realized that I should make a positive comment here about each of our suppliers that have performed so well over the years.

We’ve used Twilley Seeds as one of our two or three main garden seed suppliers for over twenty years. When we were growing sweet corn for commercial sales, they were our primary provider of the then new sh2 supersweet varieties. We still use their sweet corn varieties almost exclusively.

Over the years, we’ve had issues with seed quality just once and received a prompt and courteous refund, although absent the explanation I requested about how we were shipped crushed seed. But that was just one time out of twentysome years of quality seed shipments.

A few weeks ago, I had reason to call them, inquiring about GMO seed. The customer service representative politely informed me Twilley’s does not sell any GMO seed (what I wanted to hear).

On November 17th, 2018, SeniorGardening changed the rating from positive to neutral and added the following:

After years of successfully using seed from Twilley Seeds, we've come to a parting of the ways. I first noticed some really bad, old seed they sold us, only to be reinforced by a reader of Senior Gardening by his results from their old seed. Twilley's presient admitted they had problems with their germination testing. They made good on my claim, but stiffed my gardening friend.

I'd advise against ordering from Twilley until they come clean about selling old seed that doesn't meet germination standards.

Twilley is the best seed company that I've ever done business with. They offer a wide variety of seeds, many that home gardeners and small farmers can't buy from another source. Usually, a small farmer who needs more than a pack or 2 of one variety will have to buy several small packs at an astronomical price or buy a huge amount, much more than she can use. Twilley's offers amounts for small farms at a good price. The seeds are excellent-I've always gotten the best germination rates with their seeds. Their customer service reps are helpful and polite, and their shipping is lightning fast.

This company has a HUGE listing of seed with many that are
new disease resistant hybrids that not listed elsewhere. Handling charge is rather expensive for small orders. Very pleasant customer services

Ordered from four companies last year, Twilley gets a tie for first. I faxed in my order in October, got a call within an hour with a knowledgeable, understandable human being who explained that they were out of stock on three items (which I didn't think was bad for that late in the season), and was able to very quickly and politely help me choose substitutes. Seeds came in under a week. Prices are comparable to anywhere else and better than most. Plus, the seeds are sealed in a foil 'vacuum' packet instead of just paper, much better for storage. So I would definitely order from them again.

Old fashioned company. The selection is extensive, prices are reasonable, and the service is good. In spring 2011 I ordered about thirty different varieties of vegetable and flower seeds. They all performed well except one item that the company sent a replacement for without me asking for it. My first choice for seeds this coming growing season.

I have only used Otis Twilley for vegetable seeds. They have an excellent selection of the newer hybrids. Their service has been excellent. One of the best mailorder companies for obtaining current varieties of vegetables. Very little in the way of traditional cultivars.
On January 8th, 2008, Farmerdill added the following:

Still using Twilley for the bulk of my orders. Good seed, good service. Excellent choice of vegetable cultivars that perform well for market gardeners in the southeast.

I've only ordered a few packets from them here and there but was always satified. It looks like the negative comment was intended for Ty-Ty Nursery (next in list), which does indeed have a bad reputation.

A "moderate" company, not one of the biggies but they have
a nice selection. Products are as advertised, reasonable
prices, good delivery.

Service wise they get a 10, I can't fault them.

I have ordered from Twilley for many years. This is the best overall mail order company in my opinion.

Twilley's provides prompt service and fresh seeds. What really sets them apart in my opinion is their selection of disease resistant varieties. For instance, bacterial leaf speck on cabbage has always been a problem for me and they have resistant varieties that perform well.

Many of their other varieties are excellent performers for me. Their SummerSweet #7210 sweet corn is the most consistent and highest yielding corn I have ever grown and I have grown many. The plants are short (about 5 1/2 feet) and can be planted at high density. #7210 yields two ears per stalk about 8" long. Also, the silks are very easy to remove from the ears which makes the corn easy to process. We freeze about 50-60 quarts of cream corn annually.

I don't think my large garden would be nearly as productive without this company and their seed selection. I believe you will be pleased with them as well.

Ordered our seed geraniums from them this just to save a few bucks. Ha-Ha. We grow 1500 to 2000. Because of poor germ. and short seeds in pack we were short plants to sell. No more ordering here!

I have been using Twilley seeds for years and have always had great success. This year has been no exception. I moved 3 years ago and had several pacages of seeds left from the 98 season and I planted those along with seeds I purchased this year, the only seeds that didnt come up were the green beans so I replaced them with new seeds from 2002 and Just like always great success.

Good varieties and service. Caters somehat more to commercial growers, with emphasis on varieties that are reliable, productive, disease resistant, widely adapted, ship well, and produce marketable fruit. Still, very useful to the home gardener as well. Very informative catalog. Among the best collections in the nation for some vegetables, such as corn and watermelon.

I ordered over $200 worth of seeds from here and I am very satisfied. I experienced about a 90% germination rate on all my flowers and vegetable seeds. They are reasonably priced also.
