I placed an order for 4 plants, 2 hydrangea and 2 hardy hibiscus, on Feb 20th. I received the 2 hydrangea in mid April which was good. Itís now July and still havenít received the 2 hardy hibiscus. I called and emailed with only one automated response to my last email saying everyone in the company is working hard to send out orders. Too busy for customer service I guess. Iíve gave up on getting the plants. I contacted PayPal and am going through their process. Hopefully I can get a refund. Iíll never order from them again.

For several years I have used GrowJoy because their products were very good, their staff were helpful, and their orders were extremely well packed for shipment. But following their business reorganization there were many subtle, less than positive changes. For instance, their prices increased substantially, staff assistance became less helpful, and particularly vexing was they would aggressively advertise products yet when a customer went to order that product it would be listed as not available. Recently I placed an order which qualified for free shipping but after several inquiries I have received no response nor was the shipping fee voided. It appears GrowJoy no longer values good customer relations. Thus I am voicing this complaint and will no longer do business with them. Charles Robinson

I usually order every year for nearly 10 years. Last year they were sold out of everything I needed so it was suggested I order early. I ordered in January 2021 for delivery late May early June (2021). I ordered 39 plants and after a few promises that it would be shipped a small box the size of a notebook finally arrived in the middle of June. The small box contained just 3 plants. Inside was a packing slip indicating all of my 39 plants were inside this tiny little box. The shipping label said "1 of 1" and that the box weighed 27 pounds. I think not, it barely weighed a pound. I normally received 3 -4 very large boxes. I believe they did this on purpose because I sent them a note letting them know how frustrated I was with their service and indicated "I hate you" on the email. It's the truth...I hate them. This is how I plan my meals and food for the summer and fall. Two years in a row my vegetable garden is crap. Next year I will just drive around to greenhouses in the area to find what I need. NEVER again will I order from this company. I've sent numerous emails with no response. I messaged them on FB (then shortly after they removed the message option) with no response and posted on their page, still no response. I expect a full refund. Meanwhile I filed a complaint with UPS and the Better Business Bureau. Tomorrow I will dispute the $262 charge with my bank. I live in Northern Wisconsin, it's June 24th and there is no way even IF they sent me the rest of my plants that I would have enough time to plant them and see them to maturation. We have a short growing season this far north. I also find it interesting that "Ashley" the customer service person made the time to respond to a few complaints on this blog yet I've never heard from anyone.

I have been using GrowJoy for about 3 years now. They are a great source for live plants. I place 2 or 3 orders with GrowJoy every spring. The orders are always correct. The plants are always healthy and perfectly packed. The plants are always ready to bloom shortly after planting and have even been blooming when I open the box. I just received my last item that I ordered this spring less than 2 weeks ago. It's a lovely Berry Awesome Hibiscus. It's planted in my garden and growing well. GrowJoy is ALWAYS one of the first places I shop for flowers online and they have never let me down. I just counted, I ordered 13 plants for spring planting this year, from Hydrangea to Clematis to Petchoa to Moss Rose to Rose of Sharon. Almost everything is blooming and what isn't blooming has buds and will bloom soon. Go GrowJoy!!!

I place a large annuals order in early spring. I made numerous inquiries (by email, via phone--sometimes there was no voicemail box, other times it was full, never picked up by a real person.) Emails were not replied to. I would get a general emails saying that due to overwhelming demand shipping would be delayed but never received replies for specific information. Since it was getting too late to plant and that I was getting more skeptical about the company I cancelled the order via email (twice)l, and tried to do so by phone. No response. I escalated to PayPal to get a refund. Despite cancelling they shipped the plants. I refused the delivery. I will let you know if I ever get a refund.

First of all, I am so confused by the name of the company. Here, it is Dave's Garden. The phone lists it as Golden Harvest. I ordered from GrowJoy. A company that keeps changing its name makes me wonder why. I ordered on 4/23/2021 with a shipping date scheduled during the week of 5/16/2021. That date passed. When I called, the voice mailbox was full (both numbers). I sent an email and received a reply assuring me of a second shipment date no later than 5/27/2021. On 5/27/2021, I called and was able to leave a message asking for a refund. I got no reply. This morning, I got an email promising shipment in one or two weeks. Again, I tried to call and was not surprised that both mailboxes were full. I sent another email but don't expect a response. I will probably count this lesson as one learned the hard way. In the future, I will avoid this company like the plague. Unfortunately, it may change its name again. I will need to do my research.

I cannot apologize enough for the lack of communication from us. We have been extremely busy with an increased number of phone calls, emails, and orders. We try our hardest everyday to get in contact with every customer. Some days feels almost impossible, as the phones do not stop ringing, and it feels like we do not have a chance to return any voicemails.

Dave's Garden is not associated with us, it is a friendly community blog for gardeners to share tips, ideas, along with seeds and some plants. We do have our site listed on here, for customers to leave us reviews.

Our name used to be Garden Harvest Supply. We changed to GrowJoy roughly 3 years ago. We used to sell a variety of garden supplies, fertilizers, soil, etc. We stopped selling supplies, and transitioned into only selling live plants. With this, we changed our name to GrowJoy.

I tried to look up your order so that I could see what was going on. However, was unable to locate a customer in our system. Would you be able to send us an email to [email protected] with the subject Daves Garden and your order number? I would love to get this taken care of for you.

I placed an Order in mid-January. GrowJoy assigned the ship date in early April. Received notice in early April that shipment MIGHT be delayed by two weeks. Was notified the third week of May that my order was cancelled and refunded due to plant unavailability. They inform me of this more than 4 months after my order, which inspires these questions: Do they reserve the plants for customers according to the date the plants were ordered or according to the date they ship? Do they physically have the plants when they are sold? Is availability known when plants are sold? How much interest are they earning on their customer's money that is in their possession for months before shipping or refunding?

Posted on April 6, 2021, updated May 19, 2021 Posted on March 25, 2021, updated April 6, 2021 Placed 3 orders with Growjoy in late January, early February totaling 15 plants. They were scheduled for shipment by mid February. Growjoy charged me for the orders the very day they were received by them. The February shipment date was missed. A few days later they sent an email advising that shipments would be made the end of February due to their bad weather. When that date passed and a week or so went by I emailed Growjoy. Their reply was that they had moved and were experiencing unexpected delays. On March 20th I received a box from Growjoy containing 13 plants. They were in pots with cellophane wrapped around them to keep the soil in place. Unfortunately the cellophane was held in place by a single rubber band wrapped around the base of the plants. The rubber band broke or bent many of the plant leaves. It appears that four of the plants will not survive. Only two plants were received undamaged. The rest have what I guess is a 50/50 chance to survive. I immediately emailed Growjoy about the shipment and subsequently sent two additional emails. To date I have not received a reply. I have tried calling Growjoy, just to get a recording. If this is how they treat customers, they should take down where it says "guaranteed satisfaction" on their website.

On April 6th, 2021, crvarvaro added the following: On March 26th I received the following email from Growjoy: I am so sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We have been extremely busy these last few weeks due to the influx in orders, phone calls, and emails. We are trying our hardest to get in touch with every customer as soon as possible. I cannot apologize enough that you were not only missing plants from your order, but some arrived with damaged steams and leaves. This is not how we want any of our plants to arrive. I checked into our greenhouse location in Alabama, where your order shipped from, it looks like they had a crop failure on the Durabellaô Crazy Loveô Flower Combination and Cascadiasô Bicolor Cabernet Petunia Plant so they were unable to include them with your order. I can process a refund back to your original payment method for the plants, or I could add reward points to your account in the amount of the plants if you wanted to reorder at a later date. The plants that arrived with damaged stems, would you let me know which plant those were and if you think they will be okay after transplanting. If you do not feel like they will be okay, please let me know and I can either get those refunded or add reward points. I responded by asking that the missing plants and four plants that were so badly mangled that they could not recover be replaced. On April 6th I received the following email: I cannot apologize enough this is not our typical response time, I am working as hard as I can every day to get back in touch with every customer. We have had hundreds of emails coming in everyday, it has been very rough so far this year. We are working on getting more customer service representatives to help with the demand. I was able to get the plants replaced and scheduled to ship out 4/18. I am attaching a copy of the replacement invoice. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience and experience you've had with us so far. If/when the plants are received I will report on their condition.
On May 19th, 2021, crvarvaro added the following: Although I never received the promised replacement plants, today I was notified by my bank that their value was refunded to my account.

Ordered 5 plants. Got an email saying they would be delayed 3 weeks. The order came with two plants only. Customer service refunded me the money for plants I didnít receive. The two plants I received were in poor condition, with the hibiscus having a fungus/rust all over the leaves. Iím in Georgia and going by these other reviews from this spring their southern supplier dropped the ball. Glad I did only a small test order for a first purchase. Wonít buy from them again unfortunately unless they change their southern supplier. They have a nice website.

Avoid this online seller of plants like the plague. Plants were poorly packed and stuffed in a box. 5 Tomato plants barely made it to transplant and 2 pepper plants were barely 4" tall....all for $6.25 each. Ugh!

I placed an order March 3, chose "Amazon Pay", and received a printed confirmation and shipping date. This week I realized it was well past the shipping date with no further notification or plants. I called their listed number, was told I should leave a message with the appropriate information, did so, and never got a reply. Today I figured the order was lost, went online to place another one, and found that almost everything I wanted was sold out. Our Amazon account defaults to my wife's email, so it's possible she was sent a message back in March; but we searched and never found one. Maybe I should have just used a credit card, or ordered from a company that communicates with their customers.

First time ordering from Growjoy and I was quite pleased. Purchased a pink Brandywine tomato and a French Tarragon. Plants arrived quickly and very well packed. They are larger than average and healthy. I will definitely order again!

Pros: Nice selection, well rooted, well packaged. Cons: Small plants and heavily stretched. They grow in 2 1/4Ē pots, not 4Ē. That gives you about 40% of a normal nursery pot. But they are sold at a premium price. The plants are more like overgrown plugs. And because the plants are grown so tight together they stretch badly. I had to cut all of mine back by a half at least. You will loose 3-4 weeks of your growing season with these.

I recently ordered several hardy Hibiscus (rose mallow) from GrowJoy. The plants arrived in excellent condition due to the way they were shipped and packaged. Shipping was 2 day delivery and each plant was protected by an individual plastic container. The plants were very small (they were rooted cuttings about 4 to 6 inches tall). I realize sending larger plants would add to the shipping cost and growing time in the nursery, but it would also make customers much more satisfied if the plants were more mature. For example, I can purchase from a local grower 2 year old blooming hardy Hibiscus in one gallon pots for about the same price ($12). I only ordered these plants because the local grower did not have the varieties offered by GrowJoy.

LarryEB: Thanks for the feedback here. We are happy to hear they arrived in excellent condition! We would agree that one-gallon pots certainly are larger; however, shipping that sized container makes it simply un-affordable. They should take off nicely for you and bring you much joy. Happy gardening. Joe

Ordered Tomato plants from this company last year---they were great. Ordered again this year. Plants were dried out. Packaging was terrible. Most plugs were out of the containers. Lost about 60% of order. Contacted company 3 times. Once with pictures. Response was not adequate.

I've placed five orders, April - July, 2017 and each has been a positive experience. My orders were mostly flower (annuals) and vegetable plants. I received timely email notifications at each step with status information on: Order Confirmation, Partially Shipped, and Shipment Completed, with a tracking link. I even received a personal email letting me know that a couple of plants might arrive looking rough because they had just been trimmed back, but if they didn't improve after planting, then I could get a refund. Plants are well packed and all have arrived alive. Shipping time was 2-3 days. It took just a few days on my sheltered front porch to prepare them for planting. This is the first year that I have bought more plants through mail order than my local nursery. Prices are reasonable, plants are healthy, and delivery is quick, so I will continue to order from this company.

Posted on July 8, 2016, updated July 10, 2016 I ordered some plants from this company, including a Bloomsdale heirloom spinach plant. The other plants were fine, but the spinach was not. It never looked healthy, and eventually ended up dying. They asked me to take a picture of the plant, which I did, so then they sent me a replacement. Well, it wasn't much better. Never seemed that healthy. It lived a little longer than the first plant, but eventually succumbed as well. As I said, the other plants I ordered lived just fine, so the problem was definitely with their spinach plants. I went to their Web site to rate the Bloomsdale heirloom spinach. giving it a negative review. Guess what? My review never showed up. So, I left another one. And what do you think happened? It didn't show up either. Interesting, huh? ;) It seems obvious that GHS suppresses honest negative reviews of their products on their Web site. So, not only are their Bloomsdale spinach plants not worth buying, but GHS is dishonest about publishing customer feedback. Apparently, like a lot of dishonest companies, they only want positive reviews. If you want to submit a negative review, don't bother, because it will just be deleted. Or at least my comments were.

On July 10th, 2016, onilollaig added the following: Joe, Thank you for your comments. As for a refund, I appreciate the offer, but it really isn't worth the trouble, since the plant wasn't that expensive. I just simply won't order that plant again. Concerning the review, I posted that a long time ago. And I find it difficult to believe that it simply hasn't been approved yet because of a backlog. I'll check again in a few weeks, and if the review ever shows up, I'll mention that here. Otherwise, my comments stand. As for giving you my order number, that doesn't make any sense. To post a review on your Web site, it never even asks for your order number, so I don't understand how that would help. Regardless, you shouldn't have to supply an order number to post a review, because customers deserve to have their identities protected. Anyway, thank you for your comments, but my Neutral rating stands.
Company representative comment on July 11, 2016:

Dear onilollaig: First I am sorry for the poor spinach plants. Have we already refunded you for it? If not, please email us at [email protected] and we will certainly do so. As far as the negative ratings, we do get them; however there are very few. We do look over each review before it goes "live". This is done to keep out spam. The reason yours (and many other reviews) hasn't shown up is that we are way behind in getting them posted. If you would reply here with your order number I will track down the review and get it posted. Thanks for your comments. Sincerely, Joe

On Jul 11, 2016 9:38 AM, Garden Harvest Supply added:

Thanks for the reply. A review can be left without an account. However most folks do it through our system, which is connected to an order number. Without one, we cannot take care of any issues, such as this one where you aren't using your name. We have also found that negative reviews done without going through the system are generally spam, and we don't post them unless we can verify they are from a customer. If you happened to post it without going through the email we would have sent you, it may have been deleted as spam. If you want to email it to us at the address I posted, I am happy to get it posted for you. Joe

The customer service was very friendly and helpful. I had a question about their Miss Huff Lantanas, and they were able to answer my questions. I never order from a company that has poor customer service or lacks knowledge about the products they sell. But Garden Harvest Supply was very friendly and professional and pretty knowledgable about what plants they sold. I am definitely going to purchase approximately 18 Miss Huff Lantana plants this Spring, but I haven't decided whether to order from Garden Harvest Supply or ComNur.com. Both companies are excellent. It will probably come down to which company has the best offer on Miss Huff Lantanas.

On May 9th, 2013, Gardeningman added the following: I decided to order from Garden Harvest Supply (GHS), and the folks there were absolutely wonderful every step of the way. Stephni and Mandy were especially helpful. (They were able to put up with me, and that alone speaks volumes for their patience and professionalism. lol) There was one small ďhick-upí in the process. There was a crop failure, so the Miss Huff Lantanas I ordered were not available. GHS e-mailed me with the option of either a refund or choosing a different cultivar of lantana. I was pretty disappointed, but it wasnít their fault. I know they donít enjoy crop failures any more than their customers do, because it may cost them some good business. Anyway, I chose two different cultivars of lantanas: Dallas Red and Confetti. The lantanas arrived yesterday along with a couple of Black Knight Butterfly Bush plants and a Carolina Salsa Lantana plant. ALL of the plants were in superb condition, and the packing was the best Iíve ever seen. The little plastic pots were enclosed inside larger plastic cartons, which were packed in the shipping box with paper around them, so no dirt was spilled and the plants remained undisturbed during the shipping process. The plants were healthy with very well-developed roots for the size of the plants. Right after I planted them yesterday evening, it stormed with heavy rain, gusting wind, and pounding hail. One of the Confettiís was even submerged under water. I was really worried that I had killed my brand new plants. However, the plants were just fine, and I attribute a lot of that to the health of the plants. I definitely recommend Garden Harvest Supply for anyone wanting to buy perennial plants.
On May 7th, 2014, Gardeningman added the following: This is the second time I ordered from Garden Harvest Supply. Once again, the customer service was great. Mandy is always very helpful and polite. I received my order in two days! I ordered a variety of plants, and my order this time looked even better than last time. I was extremely impressed. The one Sum and Substance Hosta I ordered is the only plant I'm a little concerned about. It has one eye, which appears to be healthy and two leaves. One leaf is very yellow and the other leaf is crispy around the edges, but I will plant it and see what happens. I have a great little hosta bed on the north side of my house that all of my other hostas are thriving in. Besides, hostas are easy to grow and very resilient. This one should be fine, but only time will tell for sure. Anyway, I am still extremely impressed with my order. The Autumn Joy Sedums are huge and robust and everything looks great. I can't wait to plant it all tomorrow evening. Great job, GHS! I appreciate your commitment to quality products and quality customer service.
On May 22nd, 2014, Gardeningman added the following: Garden Harvest Supply (GHS) continues to impress me. Out of the 15 plants I ordered from GHS this last time, only two of them weren't well enough developed to make it. And that has never happened before. They were an Autumn Charm Sedum and a Sum & Substance Hosta. I notified GHS, and they immediately sent me two replacement plants at no additional charge. The replacement Autumn Charm Sedum was actually one of their premium plants in a quart size container. I was very impressed. The Sum & Substance Hosta was regular sized but much healthier looking than the first one. Thanks again, GHS.
On August 14th, 2014, Gardeningman added the following: This year I ordered two Russian Sage plants, 2 Autumn Charm plants, 4 Autumn Joy plants, 1 Sum and Substance Hosta, and 6 Son Sonset Lantanas from Garden Harvest Supply (GHS). Everything is doing really, really well. The Sum and Substance Hosta is growing well. The Sedums and Russian Sages are planted together and are absolutely beautiful. The Sedums are getting ready to bloom and the Russian Sages are already big and full of lavender colored blooms. The Sonset lantanas are huge! Itís hard to believe that those little bitty plants from 4Ē pots have grown into 5' x 2í shrubs. I have photos that I will post sometime.
On April 14th, 2015, Gardeningman added the following: All of my plants from Garden Harvest Supply have returned and are looking great. I order a bunch more plants from them this year including several shrubs. They are also grown in 3-4 inch pots. However, the perennials had such a good root system and a lot of top growth that I had to give the shrubs a try too. I am looking forward to getting my plants in the mail. Again, Mandy has given world-class customer service. I've changed my order several times, but she graciously and gladly makes the changes for me each time. I appreciate her and all the wonderful people at Garden Harvest Supply, my new go to source for perennial plants.
On May 14th, 2015, Gardeningman added the following: I just received my third order from Garden Harvest Supply (GHS). I ordered a total of 34 plants, the most I have ordered so far. Almost everything looks great. The plants came very well packaged and extremely healthy with well-developed root systems. They are now thriving in my gardens. Unfortunately, two plants arrived in a condition in which I was unable to plant them: their stems/trunks were broken and are now dead. 32 out of 34 plants arriving in perfect health isn't bad though. I've repeatedly tried to contact GHS about the plants that arrived damaged but haven't received a response. I'm sure there is a logical explanation. GHS usually always has wonderful customer service.
On May 14th, 2015, Gardeningman added the following: Joe, thanks for contacting me. Yes, I did get the reply from Mandy. I have been having trouble with my new e-mail provider, so that is probably the reason why you didn't receive my first e-mails. I knew there was a logical explanation for the delay, and as I assumed, no fault of yours. Thanks again for being so helpful and cooperative. Posted on November 6, 2014, updated November 6, 2014 Posted on November 5, 2014, updated November 6, 2014 I ordered a herb plant a few weeks ago, but the description on the plant tag did not match the description on the Web site, nor did the picture of the flowers. I called customer service and talked to Joe--he told me that he would contact the nursery to find out more information and then call me back. However, he never called back. A couple of days later, I called again and got an answering machine, so I left a message stating that I was still waiting to hear from Joe. Guess what--nobody ever called me back. So, I disputed the charge with my credit-card company. Because it was a small charge, the CC company told me that GHS won't get a chargeback, even though the CC company credited me for the purchase. That's too bad, because I think GHS deserves a chargeback. Anyway, if you're looking for decent customer service, look elsewhere, because their customer service stinks. And look at your plant tags closely, because you may not be getting what you actually ordered.

On November 6th, 2014, neptune123 changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: Joe wrote: No, Joe, you never mentioned to me on the phone that you would be happy to refund the order. Maybe you thought you did, but you didn't. You just said that you felt confident the plant was the right one, but would find out more information and call me back. OK, I went and checked my e-mail, and that is correct--there is one from Mandy. I don't check my e-mail that often, though, so I missed it. However, 3 important points: 1) You did *not* call me back as you promised, so I was left hanging. 2) When I called back (during normal business hours) after a few days, I couldn't reach anybody at GHS. Why is that? And I also mentioned in my voice-mail message that I was waiting for you to return my call. But still, no one ever called me back. 3) An e-mail is NOT a substitute for a promised phone call. Not everybody checks their e-mail regularly--I know that I don't. Besides, it's far less personal. I was waiting for a *phone call* (as you promised), not an e-mail. Well, since someone did send me an e-mail (after I had to call back and leave a message), I am changing the rating from Negative to Neutral. Posted on July 31, 2014, updated October 13, 2014 Although shipping was prompt, quality was bad. I knew the plant would be fairly small, but there was virtually no top growth and little root development. For a $12 plant. I would have been ashamed to send such a plant. Posted on June 1, 2014, updated June 19, 2014 I have ordered from GHS for a few years now. I have never had a problem with their plants - they are always very healthy and extremely well packed. This year was no different - the plants were sprinting right out of the box. I also really appreciate their potted vegetable and fruit options for those of us who have very small gardens and only two people to feed, and therefore don't have the room or the need to start dozens of seeds in March and April. I got two mums, two cucumber plants, one watermelon, one cantaloupe, one mojito mint, 4 basil and a number of jade beans from them - all very healthy. I am still waiting for the sprint peas I ordered, but they emailed me and let me know that they were not ready to ship yet and I am willing to wait an extra week for healthy plants.

On June 19th, 2014, KJWThack added the following: Update: I continue to be truly impressed by this company. After a slight delay, they had to cancel my order for sprint peas because there was a problem with the crop. They were very good about it, apologized and refunded me my money immediately. And then a few weeks later (yesterday, to be exact), they sent me sprint pea plants from their new crop. Free of charge, a complete surprise to me - I didn't have any idea they were going to do that. I am so impressed that I am ordering some more plants from them tonight. They now have a loyal long-term customer.

Having found it too late in the season to locate chrysanthemum transplants in the colors I prefer an local nurseries, I checked in Dave's Plant Scout. There I discovered Garden Harvest Supply. The wonderful array of plants, at very reasonable prices, caused me some doubt about the quality I would find when the plants arrived. Today, just three days after placing an order, my 8 healthy plants arrived in an ingeniously stable packing container, and they were not even needing water! Two substitutions had been made, but the new plants fit exactly with the height/color scheme I was working on. I am so happy that I just ordered 6 more chrysanthemums. I will be using this company many more times in the future.

Posted on May 28, 2014, updated June 11, 2014 I really wanted to like Garden Harvest Supply! I ordered several plants for this season but for some reason, the 2 sugar sprint plants I ordered were received completely wilted. I tried unsuccessfully to revive them, but in the end, they were completely dead. I am finding it hard to get ahold of customer service regarding this issue - would love it if I can get store credit instead of replacement sugar sprints as both of them were dead on arrival while the rest of the plants I received are doing completely fine. Frustrated!

Posted on February 11, 2014, updated February 18, 2014 I have ordered from GHS several times and visited the mail-order location just to check it out because it is within driving distance. Unfortunately, I am disappointed with my most recent purchase. At least two of my seed packets are way short on seeds. The company touts that their seeds come in "hand-filled packages" and I am reasonable when it comes to what "approximately" means. However, one packet (very expensive) was supposed to be 25 seeds and I got 10. Another was supposed to be 50 and I received 40. With lower count items, these discrepancies are significant from 20% to 60%. And, with several other packages of as yet unopened seeds, I'm not looking forward to counting out hundreds of seeds. I have contacted the company directly, and will update if they respond.

On February 18th, 2014, dirty_nails changed the rating from negative to positive and added the following: The company rep did indeed return my e-mail immediately and I received replacement seeds plus some extra for good measure. Thank you GHS for great customer service! I will definitely order again!
Company representative comment on February 11, 2014:
On Feb 11, 2014 4:56 PM, Garden Harvest Supply responded with:

Hello dirty_nails:

So sorry for this shortage. Each season we do a hand count for each variety of flower seeds. Then we use a measuring spoon sized for that count. The complete process from the bulk side to the finished seed packet is done by hand. We also changed some of the quantities on some of the seed packets from last year to this year, it looks like we missed updating the count online for Cheyenne Mix, we have corrected that count and will be sending you out the quoted amount...plus a few extra for your troubles. On the Lupine shortage, it appears a new lot came in, (sometimes Lupine seeds vary in size) and we did not double check the measurement. We are sending you another packet to make up for this shortage. With all that being said, it is rare for us to be short on seeds and we certainly thank you for bringing this to our attention. If there is anything else we can do, please let me know.

Sincerely, Joe Stutzman

Ordered from this company for the first time last year and was so pleased I ordered several more orders this year. I received an email about one of the orders I placed, saying the variety of astilbe was unavaible and would I like to sustitute with another, which I chose to do. The replacements were freaking huge!! Thank you! Also in that same order one of the dicentra burning hearts completely snapped off during shipping. I took a picture and emailed them and was told I would be receiving a replacement which came within a couple of days and again was much larger then the original plants. I was a happy camper with my orderes this year so when I got an email about the 30% off of perennials I jumped. I filled my cart up while I was at work and when I got home I was able to place it right before this huge arse storm knocked our power out for a day. Once the power was restored I checked my email and the order had shipped and I received it yesterday! Once again everything was fantastic! Thank You!

Posted on May 22, 2013, updated May 30, 2013 Posted on May 21, 2013, updated May 22, 2013 I have ordered from this company in the past. I had a positive experience so I recommended this company to a friend. Big mistake. I placed an order more than one month ago. I wasn't thrilled with the far off projected shipping date provided, but I figured I would just go ahead and place the order since I had a positive experience in the past and I really liked the variety offered. After wasting so much time waiting and passing up on beautiful plants at local nurseries all spring, my shipping week with Garden Harvest Supply came and went. Concerned that my package may have been lost in the mail I called and was told that my order had not yet shipped. For me, spring is nearly over. If planting in the spring is important to you, you may want to go with another company. Meanwhile, the friend I recommended this company to did receive her order (a little on the late side I might add) and most, if not all, of her order was wrong (the flower colors were not the colors ordered) and her other plants were tiny. (2 inch pots--not as advertised on the web). I wish I had gone with another company. (This is my first year having window boxes, and I am looking at nothing but dirt because my plants did not arrive.) I don't know if there is new management, but this is not what I experienced in the past and I am greatly disappointed. I only wish I had selected a company that had more reliable shipping and that would honor what you have ordered.

On May 22nd, 2013, HouseofFlowers added the following: UPDATE: Response send to Joe on 5/22/13 : Hello Joe: Thank you for your response. You have requested my order number and it is ##### (order number omitted was provided in my private response). When I first spoke to a female representative at your nursery to inquire about my plants which had not yet been received, and learned that my order had not even shipped, I told her NOT to send the plants. I expressed that I was annoyed at the delay and that I would probably be better off getting other plants from a local nursery. I told her that I just wanted a refund since nothing had shipped. She didn't want to cancel the order and instead asked if she could call me back after looking into things further but gave the excuse that things are busy. I then said that the only way I would keep the order is if I were offered a significant discount. Otherwise, to send me nothing and provide a refund. The woman on the phone promised to call me back and make some type of offer. She never did, so I also sent an email to your company specifying that I did not want the order shipped unless and until somebody could find the time to talk to me. I now feel cheated as my email indicates that the plants were suddenly shipped following my request for a refund. I am very angry that I have been treated this way. Nobody should conduct business in this manner.
On May 30th, 2013, HouseofFlowers changed the rating from negative to neutral and added the following: I am changing my review from negative to neutral as I feel that is what would be fair. After such a negative experience, I appreciate that Garden Harvest Supply was kind enough to issue a full refund for my order. (Thank you Joe)

If you could send me a message here on Dave's with the info, I will gladly look into it. As for your friend, I hope she has contacted us about the colors so we can get it fixed. We do advertised the size of each pot on its product page, sorry if your friend missed that. I look forward to your response.

Posted on May 25, 2013, updated May 25, 2013 Posted on May 24, 2013, updated May 25, 2013 I ordered well over $100 of flowers/plants on May 15th. I also ordered some from another company. Well I received my order from the other company yesterday and had heard NOTHING. NOT EVEN AN ORDER CONFIRMATION from Garden Harvest. I emailed them with my order numbers last night and they tell me they emailed me because two of the items I ordered were out of stock....and they never heard back. Well, I never got the email. Now they say I have to wait until Tuesday for shipment.....mean while, my other plant order sits because I was going to mix them. They never offered any expedited shipping, no discount...nothing. They sent me an email address I never even heard of and said that was the address they had on file for me....INCORRECT. Someone must have fat fingered wrong into their system. Not happy....very poor customer service and they don't answer the phone. My order number is ORU7856969796 and when I login to my account with them....their site says I have no order(s) with them. What is going on? Not happy Joe....owner.

Sorry for the problems with your order ringyding22. As was noted when you checked out, CO orders do not ship until this week. Once we realized the problem with two of the plants, we emailed. Unfortunately the address was incorrect, our customers enter this information during checkout, so that is all we had to go off of. That is also the reason you could not login. I must admit, we get a lot of calls with the time of year it is, some of them don't get answered as soon as we would like. As far as the expedited shipping, there is nothing we could do that would not have them site over the 3 day weekend, which would have been terrible for the plants. We certainly will speed them up once they leave here Tuesday. Please follow up once they arrive and let us know if they are satisfactory.

Sincerely, Joe

Posted on May 21, 2013, updated May 21, 2013 My son and I expanded his garden and made plans early in the year. Together was started looking at what vegetables he would like to plant and submitted an order on 4/16/13. Along with his order I also decided to add on to the landscaping and ordered 15 plants for myslef. An order of nearly $200.00. Shipping date showed order to be shipped on 5/13/13. It is now 5/21/13 and our order is still showing as processing. A email sent last week was returned several days later stating our order had not shipped and we will receive an email once the order ships. A week later and still no email. Two calls to the company resulted in a voicemail. A third call resulted in the line hanging up after ringing for several minutes. A fourth call and I left a message requesting a return call. Lets see if someone calls today! I look around and vegetable gardens are blooming and we dont even have our order and it isnt even on its way. This was the first time we have ordered online and I never will again. I will not recommend this company. It doesnt make me any happier to see negative responces listed for the same very reason as ours. Sadly disappointed in Massachusetts. Christine Silvia

I sprinkled it around the baseboards and in the basement, and I noticed many bugs dead. Even black water bugs. That was nice enough, but whatever was biting us never bit us again after sprinkling the D.E. I am sold on it , and I have been telling others about it. Thank you, Barbara, from Ohio

Posted on August 11, 2012, updated September 13, 2012 Posted on August 8, 2012, updated August 11, 2012 I ordered two hibiscus from them, packaging was excellent,in fact when UPS threw them upside down on the front porch it did not any harm to the flowers as they were packed so well. Good price, and excellent processing, well above average.

On August 11th, 2012, juhur7 added the following: I thought I would take a minute to add the plants were large and healthy as advertised ,in excellent condition, and are now growing very well.
On September 13th, 2012, juhur7 added the following: I ordered a Rhododendron as a gift ,my second order from them, really nice once again, This will always be i mind when considering future purchases. Everything did and has always arrived in great shape!

I ordered 9 'Pow Wow White' Echinacea, and 1 'Vintage Gold' Chameacyparis. I actually saw the UPS person toss the box on the ground, where it rolled twice, and landed on a side. I opened the box up, minimum dirt was spilled. All of the 9 Echis were in great shape (almost the same size as I just paid $5 a piece for at a local garden center!) The 'Vintage Gold' I knew would be on the smaller size, the plant was shipped in a 4" container, but the plant was about 10-12" tall! I am impressed with this companies shipping, their products were big "bang" for your buck, and I will definitely be ordering from them in the future!

I ordered strawberry plants for fall planting in July. They notified me they would be shipped the week of August 27th. I received them yesterday August 30th. They arrived in perfect condition. Will buy from them again. DEMinPA

I have placed two orders in the past month and plants arrived in good condition, some with buds starting to bloom already. So far I am very happy with this company and their plants. I just placed a third order for a new garden I just started. I will be using this company more as their prices can't be beat. The newest cultivars of Coneflowers half the price of other sites, as well as Heuchera. Most of the sites ( I will not mention their names) I have been using have started charging ridiculous prices for their plants and I have had to get numerous replacements because they are shipping the smallest almost seedlings that don't survive the trip to my house. Also other sites appear to raise their prices when they have 25% off sales, which I feel is deceptive. GHS has low prices to begin with and so far no problems with any of their plants. Their shipping prices are about the same as others. Packaging is acceptable-just a little messy with soil in the box. I love the point credits as they are really worth it, ie: 115 points equals $5.75. Another site which offers rewards 100 points only equals $1.00. Highly recommended site.

Posted on July 20, 2011, updated August 5, 2012 Posted on June 12, 2011, updated July 20, 2011 It was for the first time that I ordered from this company, and I chose it because there were so many positive comments on this site. And I am very happy with what I got. All the plants looked healthy, some were really huge and I don't think that I'll have any problems with them. And I also liked the prices - I couldn't buy so much stuff for the money I paid at the local nursery. THANK YOU! And I am sure to order from this company again.

On July 20th, 2011, Mylena1 changed the rating from positive to neutral and added the following: I am changing my rating of the company, because one of the ferns that I had ordered died and at my request to replace it I was explained that they give only ten day guarantee to living plants. Isn't it ridiculous? Ten days the plant only needs to think what to do next - to grow or to die, and even the lousiest nurseries give six months to one year guarantee. Sometimes a plant doesn't look too good when we receive it, but with good care it begins to grow and finally thrives, sometimes quite the opposite, it looks quite healthy at first, but then without any reason at all it drops leaves and dies. I read all their rules on the site, and I thought that ten day guarantee referred to other stuff this company sells, not to the living plants. So I want just to warn other gardener to be careful while ordering and writing positive reviews on Garden Harvest Supply. There are so many positive reviews here because they offer certain discounts for further orders to those clients who wrote a positive review, but they don't stand behind every one of their plants, and if the most expensive plant dies, it will be a complete loss for you, as they offer you only a ridiculous ten day guarantee and no replacement after that.
On August 5th, 2012, Mylena1 changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following: This spring I ordered a lot of plants from Garden Harvest Supply and I didn't have any problems at all. All the plants were big enough and healthy. So now I know for sure that if I need really good stuff to plant it on the flowerbeds of my clients I should order from this company - both the prices and quality are excellent . And their customer service is great too - they immediately react to every email and are very helpful. I highly recommend this company to all gardeners. THANK YOU!

Dear Mylena1: I am sorry you had a plant die. I have looked over your original order from April and noticed you purchased other varieties of ferns as well, are they doing okay? We tried very hard to make it plain that the 10 days are for plants, all other items have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. This rarely happens with our plants and has not been a priority to increase the number of days on plants; however after reading your comments and reviewing other online nurseries, it appears we are a bit off on the length of our guarantee. We will continue looking into this matter, thanks for bringing it to our attention. I will have the girls contact you via email to get your dead plant taken care of. Joe

Thanks again for being our customer!

I purchased 20 Jersey Supreme asparagus 1-year crowns in May 2011. They arrived promptly along with excellent instructions for planting and care. All the plants grew and thrived! We harvested lightly this year and will plan to enjoy a full harvest next year. The plants are amazing! Very healthy, thick and bushy! I am very pleased with the service and quality of plants!
