Positive | gminer Rome, GA (1 review) March 11, 2019 | I have ordered PLANTS (rooted cuttings) from BUDDY DEAN'S HILLTOP GARDENS for several years ............. what I have gotten is EXCELLENT WELL ROOTED CUTTINGS packed well so that they survive travel; and the STOCK is EXCELLENT - as virus free as one would want. Have gotten lots of older varieties that even if they are available elsewhere are "virus ridden". BUDDY' has clean stock. My only complaint is that I need the plants about April 15, and have requested them at that time but they always come "whenever" ... usually early May, but last year did not get until about May 25 ... but that was because Mr Dean had a health issue. I think that this year, 2019, he has remained closed because of medical problems that are now on the mend, so hopefully he will have ROOTED CUTTINGS available again spring 2020 !!!!! |
Negative | laurakgonzalez Scotts Valley, CA (1 review) May 25, 2018 | I have not received the tubers I ordered and paid for in January. I have emailed twice and received no reply. I have now contacted PayPal to suggest they look into whether this is a legitimate business. |
Positive | atma1 Fairfield, IA (1 review) April 24, 2018 | It took a while, but I received four professionally propagated, nicely potted dahlias that I specifically requested in the spring of 2017.They included: Jessica (a hard-to-find variety), Knee Deep, Gitts Attention and Wanda's Aurora. All transplanted well, grew vigorously, flowered deep into October, and I was able to divide and store tubers from all but one. I would certainly order from Hilltop again, as they are clearly experts in dahlia propagation and cultivation. |
Negative | Kentuckyfarm Lexington, KY (1 review) November 16, 2017 | I would strongly advise against ordering from this company! I ordered several dahlias in the spring of 2017. I waited patiently, but my order never arrived. I called and emailed them repeatedly, but never got a response or the items I paid for. They basically stole my money. |
Negative | veryzer Sycamore, IL (5 reviews) May 27, 2017 | I placed my order at the end of March. Reading the disclaimer that delivery could take 5-6 weeks, I requested delivery the first week of May but understood that it might not arrive until the second week of May (week 6). It's May 27 and I still haven't received my dahlias.
Similar to others, I have emailed and phoned but with no response. I went into this having read that Buddy is terrible with communication and I was fine with that...so long as I receive the plants I paid for. At this point even if I receive the dahlias next week (a month late), I'm not sure they'll even bloom before frost. This kind of operation is shameful. |
Negative | dakaye Stanfordville, NY (1 review) May 16, 2017 | I ordered a substantial amount of tubers online from Hilltop Gardens for the 2017 season. These tubers have never been received. I have emailed Hilltop and they have not responded. I have also called but all I get is an answering machine with the "mailbox full" each time I call so am unable to leave a message.
Based on the other review I have read on the page, it seems that Hilltop may make advertising of tubers and not sending them a habit and, therefore, not a very honest operation. |
Negative | oaskul Citrus Hills, FL (1 review) March 14, 2014 | I placed an order Jan 2. Paid via PayPal, and received a notice of confirmation through PayPal. Order was for tubers & plants, and plants are stated as being shipped after 3/24 unless otherwise indicated. I indicated a ship date of late Jan, if possible. I have not received any confirmation from Hilltop to this date (March 14). I understand if my ship date was not possible, but it would be nice to know an alternative. I have tried calling the provided number several times, and only get a machine with a full mailbox. I have had no luck contacting this company, and I have definitely not received my order. |
Positive | sudhira Aptos, CA (8 reviews) May 5, 2007 | Packaged beautifully, healthy vigorous cuttings, labelled correctly, can't say enough. |
