Been ordering from them for 5 or 6 years. Seeds are inexpensive and good quantities are given. Plants are bareroot and priced affordably.

Have ordered for 3-4 years. Plants are small, but the price is right. Have had some failures, but overall good luck with the plants. Has a nice catalog, which is mailed early in the year. Have had useful and fast e-mail responses to my questions. Good selection of prairie plants

great selection, prices and responsiveness. great value for $. owner is very helpful. provenance of seeds is carefully notated. and, you'll never see "naturalized", much less invasive exotics, on their listing.

This is the second year I've ordered from Bluestem, excellent turnaround time on orders and I've had very good results with the seeds I've purchased. Have purchased plants for the first time this year and am anxious to receive them (they arrive in April). Has a nice selection of native prairie seeds and plants. Definitely on my annual shopping list!

This is a good place to get plants and seeds if you have time and are willing to give your things a little extra care. His plants are inexpensive, though on the small side. They need TLC for a bit until they become established. However, it's a good way to see if something will grow in your site without a major outlay of money. His seeds are good and he has a good selection. He is east of the Mississippi so his soil is closer to mine than some of the other prairie nurseries.

On June 27th, 2002, mikejan added the following: One thing, and it is important. He has cutoff dates for plants and seeds and his catalogs arrive pretty close to those dates. For the first year you need to know what you want, then in other years you can use the previous catalog as his selection doesn't vary by much.
