This is one of the best plant purchases I have ever made! They were easy to work with, the iris were HUGE and beautiful. They were out of two of the iris that I ordered because I ordered on the last day of their season and they shipped double replacement for one, and triple for the other! I will always buy from this company when I want iris! Oh, there prices were fantastic!!!!!!!!! Let me give them the highest praise report that I have ever written!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I received my order from Blue J about a month ago. I was order number 5 and had two iris on the buy list that were refunded. I notified Sheri once the iris arrived because they had mold and some were soft and had chew damage on them. She sent duplicates on some iris but the really tiny ones with damage had no duplicates . In general, the straw she uses to pack iris in, holds moisture and unless you are only one day away, then chances for mold and soft rhizomes, are a very good possibility. By the way, mold on iris rhizomes isn't always black. Once the black is there, it can be too late. This happened with three of the Blue J iris. The others were treated with bleach and then streptomycin when planted. I've lost some of the rhizomes because of the mold and some are fine and growing and some just sit.

I usually don't change my ratings of a company but will this time. Sheri rethought the straw packing and used excelsior last summer. There was absolutely no mold on last summer's rhizomes. I took later shipment because of my zone and I received much nicer rhizomes and Sheri was quick to make good anything that I knew wouldn't make it here. (Too Small) I don't think the smaller ones were her fault, I think it was maybe another problem that she was aware of. Namely packers.
I have recommended Blue J now to several people and they have since ordered. I think Sheri and her parents are working hard to rectify problems. I've not seen any sign of borers in any of the rhizomes I've gotten, but I did see what looked like rodent damage on the previous year's rhizomes. Last summer (06) didn't find that sort of damage again. I'd still like to see a little larger rhizome on some of my order but as long as Blue J is trying, what else can you ask for. I applaud their progress. And because of their attempts to make things better for all of us, I have changed my rating.

Blue J Iris was easy to work with, Blue J Iris website was easy to browse and Sheri Arevalo (of Blue J Iris) was helpful and even took the time to give me individual help with growing my iris plants.

I just received my order from Blue J and was very satisfied with what I received. They are well grown and healthy rhizomes. And you can't beat the price! Sheri gets 5 stars (or more!) for her excellent customer service. Quite helpful and friendly, she answers queries very promptly. You do feel your business is valued and appreciated here. Like the website and also the extensive selection from old to new. I look forward to seeing what they have in store next year.

Ordered again from Blue J after my irises bought last year did VERY well. I had an exceptionally high bloom percentage on my first year plants (perhaps coming from a similar climate?) and all that bloomed were true to name.
Service again was top notch. I didn't have the need to ask questions this time, just submitted my order and received a confirmation within a day or two from Sheri. Irises received were in good condition and generous as always.
The selection is so fab and the prices are so reasonable.
Great website, I enjoy sitting with a cup of coffee and looking at the photos page by page...and making my list.

Third time is STILL a charm...got my order a couple weeks ago, right on time. Everything A-OK. Generous as always and the rhizomes are clean and healthy. Love the selection there, some rarities to be found and you can't beat the price.
That Sheri...she is awesome, I hope she gets a big vacation after shipping season wraps up. Hard working gal who manages to take care of business quickly and accurately. Kudos to her!

I have ordered over 600 Iris from various companies. The quality usually reflected the price. Only Blue Jay had a very cheep price and outstandin rhizomes. The discounts, bonus iris, quality and size far exceeded my expectations. I would not hesitate to recomend these people and their product.

This company has really great prices. Some rhizomes are smaller than usual, but it's due to their colder climate. If they are small, they give you two or more to make up for it. I will order from them again next year.

Sheri was a joy to deal with. She was very quick to respond to emails and was able to let me know right away if what I wanted was in stock. When I ordered (in April) a July ship date was given, and the order shipped on that date. The packaging was great, as were the size of the iris (as previously noted - if small they will send 2)

I'd say that the very best thing about Blue J is their customer service. They changed my order three times, once just a week before they shipped and they seemed very happy to be hearing from me every time I sent them a message.
On September 24th, 2005, doss changed the rating from positive to negative and added the following:
About a week after I received my iris I noticed borer damage and indeed found a borer on a Blue J plant. I've never had borers and the blue j plants were by themselves. That can happen, but when I tried to let them know they became very defensive and said that they had been checked by the agricultural agent and basically I couldn't possibly be correct. They did say that they would replace the one that I threw out due to the damage.
I originally said that their customer service was great - but when you have problems, it's not so great after all. With all the wonderful iris vendors that are available, I'll shop elsewhere. And I had such high hopes.

My 2005 order is doing great. There were two misfills which their wonderful customer service has taken care of.
My 2006 order has arrived and, once again, I'm a happy camper. This is a great comapny

I also give this garden a 10+ rating!!! I ordered 144 rhizomes and was very pleased with my order--

The first order I received from them last year was great---so I decided to send in another order (05). The second was packed in the straw, the rhizomes were moldy and much smaller. I figured the size was due to ordering so late in the season. I had about a 50% bloom on the ones that lived and out of those around 10 were not correctly named. I ordered this year mainly to get be able to get the correct ones from last year.
The order this year was not much better. So next year I will pass.

I am very pleased with this new company. The quality, price and communication is tops! I had several large orders and because the cost was so reasonable I really expected the rhizomes to be small but they were fresh healthy large plants. I also sent 3 seperate orders. But no problem, Sheri was great with combining everything. I highly recommend Blue J and you can be sure that next year I will be first in line with my order.

Blue J Iris is a fantastic source for irises! They even have some "hard-to-find" varieties. The rhizomes that I received were wonderful, and were a terrific bargain! An itemized invoice was included with my order. Bonus rhizomes were also sent. E-mails were always promptly answered and very friendly. My order was shipped on the date promised. I look forward to doing more business with Blue J Iris next year and I highly recommend them to everyone!

Just want to add that as of todays date, 100% of the irises ordered from BlueJ have survived the winter in my garden. Most are putting up scapes and those that aren't have many increases.
