This is an excellent own root rose company.

I purchased several roses from Amity. Communication was great; some of the roses I asked for were not available; they informed me immediately and offered various options. They were in communication about shipping dates for optimum roses and even were so kind as to pick out a few "surprises" for me in accordance with my climate and personal preferences.

Excellent website, easy-to-read alpha list and great selections. Amity Heritage has the largest bands of any nursery I've purchased from, providing plants with very healthy, well-developed root systems and tops. If I were looking for an ideal employee, Janet Sklar would be my first choice. She's professional, efficient, and personable and made points with me by alerting me to a special offer I hadn't considered. Packing and shipping are great - my orders arrive quickly, without error, and are securely wrapped. The extra care from this nursery makes it my number one choice for purchasing.

I ordered 2 rose bushes in April 2004. The company maintained excellent communication via email, letting me know when the roses would ship. They were well packaged & healthy plants. (One was blooming in the box). All three have settled in well in my garden, even though the roses were "born" in California and now live in North Carolina. They're all growing, and two bloomed this first summer. I highly recommend this company.

I ordered Uncle Joe(Toro)in March 2004, to be shipped the first week in May(it arrived right when they said it would) Packing was very good. Communication(through e-mail) was very good as well. I was worried about this rose at first, as it seemed to struggle to get acclimated to my climate. My patience has paid off though, it is getting ready to bloom.

Wow, I just received another beautiful 1-gallon rose from Amity Heritage Roses. I was expecting to receive the normal band-sized own-root plants you get from other places, but this is definitely a mature bush! Lush, clean and vibrant foliage, and just beautiful. Now Iím feeling the pressure as a rose gardener, because with this rose I can only hope to keep it looking as good as the condition in which it arrived. Usually the goal is to make it look better by the end of the season than the condition in which it was received!

I just bought 3 more rose bushes from Amity Heritage Roses. The roses arrived in impeccable condition. I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that these are the largest and most mature band-sized plants you can get anywhere. I also got a big gallon-sized plant. Everything is just superlative. They take great care in packaging. Everything is neatly wrapped and tied beautifully. Obviously they take a lot of pride in their work, and when I receive roses from them it is like I am receiving a gift! Now outside to plant these puppies!

I was happily surprised at the Size of Apricot Nectar as it is an own root rose. The customer service was excellent and I will do business with them for years to come. Great Product and Great Service.

I ordered several roses from this company in spring 2002. All the roses have done fine, from those tiny little healthy plants in the carton to large plants now. In fact, my Constance Spry is so large and beautiful, and is about to eat a big portion of my garden right out from under me, but how beautifully it will be eaten.

I have ordered from them twice and am very pleased with the roses and the outstanding service I have received. The sell own-root roses in bands. I have been pleased at how healthy and developed the root structure and growth has been on all of the seven roses I have ordered from them. Once in the ground they have burst into quick confident growth. The personal communication, including email messages to confirm you will be in town for delivery puts Tracy and Janet at the top of my list. You have a sense of connection to the people behind the roses, and their warmth and responsiveness make them a joy to deal with.

I just received another order of ten roses! I couldn't be more pleased the roses are in wonderful condition, they were shipped exactly when I wanted them. I had to change my shipping date due to a out of town meeting, they were wonderful about the changed date.
I can't say enough good things about Janet, and Tracy they are the best in my opinion. I would suggest anyone looking for own root roses give them a try.

I can only second the above comments. Super fast service, extra careful packaging, and superb plants. These are listed as bands but I've never seen a band this healthy and stocky and showing so much new growth. My Cressida rose had a big fat super fragrant bloom on it.

Super fast turnaround. I ordered on-line on 7/23 and received my roses on 7/27. The plants were own-root in bands and very healthy, great root systems, one even had a bloom and bud on it. Tracy and Janet are also very responsive in email and communication was excellent. I will definitely order from them again. They ship their own-roots year-round, but certain varieties sell out fast; I am on wait lists for several of their varieties, to be available next spring.

Placed another order on 7/31 (after I received the first shipment and saw how healthy and strong the plants were) and received them today (8/5). Once again, email response from Janet was quick and courteous, and plants were excellent. I'm very very pleased how consistent Tracy and Janet are in their great service and wonderful plants. Will recommend to all my friends.

I ordered an own-root rose from them on 5/4/2000 (rose about $10, shipping about $10). The website said this particular rose wouldn't be available until June. When they got my order, they emailed to confirm receipt, and again noted that it wouldn't be available till June. It arrived about mid-June, just like they said. The rose was small, but in good shape, and appears to be doing quite well in my garden (it actually had one bloom on it this year). I'm zone 4/5, and I'll protect it this winter and see how it does. I thought the shipping was high (when the package arrived, it was Priority Mail, with a sticker of about $3.75, not even close to $10), but I suppose just about all mail order places are like that. Overall, I was very pleased with the rose, the service and promptness of the replies. They are a good source for rare or hard-to-find varieties.
