Cryptocereus anthonyanus is a night-blooming orchid cactus.  And, it has a wonderful scent, too!

I started this plant from a cutting and it has really grown. It is in a red clay pot, gets watered when i think about it and noticed that for the first time it has flower buds! I attribute the buds to using Nutricoate, a dry, slow-release fertilizer that I use on my orchids. I just threw a handful in 4 months ago and it has given me a lot of growth and now buds. I am in Seal Beach, CA

Hey, whodattalking!!! Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment. And, congratulations on the awesome reward of blooms. I know that has to feel pretty darn good and validating because you must be doing something right!! Since I took this particular picture, I've shared at least a dozen cuttings with friends and neighbors. And, my orginal plant had grown so much that, I believe 2016, I had to repot the HUGE plant into a half-barrel planter... It's like a crazy alien-octopus creature with tons of zig-zag stems/leaves. I LOVE it!! Enjoy your success and Happy Gardening!!
